I’m in the middle of rebuilding my site on a staging server (http://kimtownendnew.wpstagecoach.com) and none of my portfolio images are displaying. I’m using the custom content module on the portfolio pages, and it’s stripping out all formatting and not displaying any of the images that I upload to image gallery.
Any ideas on what’s going on?March 18, 2017 at 9:55 pm #46418
This is happening because you’re using the Custom Content field. It will replace the images with whatever you add here in the event you want to add your own images, sliders, shortcodes, etc.
Insert any content you’d like to use on your single portfolio item page here. This will not show up in the grid, but instead replace any content on the portfolio item page.March 19, 2017 at 10:35 am #46419
Yes, I understand that. But if I use the custom content field AND the gallery images they don’t show up. And if I use the regular page set up, only one image (the featured image) shows up, and also the link break is all weird and overlaps into the featured image column.
I want to be able to add more than one image and have the page as 2 columns instead of 3, so there’s not loads of weird white space to the left of the page, but there’s no template for this – when I go to edit with visual composer, it says I’m looking at a blank page.March 19, 2017 at 10:41 pm #46420
I assume you’re referring to the portfolio single page and not the portfolio grid, as I see your images showing up in the grid.
Again, this field overwrites any of the featured image content. If you have anything in this field, the theme will not show featured images of any kind by design. This is so that you can add your own content or shortcodes here.
Take a look at one of the demo pages in the theme – http://themeluxe.com/themes/etch/interior/project/nunc-tempus-accumsan/
The Custom Content field here is just the images added one after another. The left-hand column is the default content field used for your portfolio text/description. It sounds like you’re wanting to do something like this, but let me know if you have something else in mind and I can guide you in the right direction.
If you’re wanting to use Visual Composer, you can certainly do so, but you may be better off creating pages and linking the portfolio items to these pages to avoid working within the confines of the portfolio template. But I don’t recommend using Visual Composer for a portfolio if your portfolio items all have the same structure since you would be creating more work for yourself than necessary.March 25, 2017 at 5:49 pm #46442
Got that fixed (thanks!) and have been working on the site today, and suddenly the classic mode had disappeared from my homepage. So now I can’t create a section/move things around easily as editing in front end mode is especially clunky.
Any ideas what’s happened?
Classic mode is still displaying across all the other pages.
Thanks!March 26, 2017 at 1:07 am #46445
You should just be able to click the “Backend Editor” on that page to revert back. If it doesn’t work, there may be a syntax error in your shortcodes.
